Gateway Classic Cars of Las Vegas is pleased to present for
consideration a 1964 Austin Healey Sprite MKII. The Sprite was a
small open sports car produced in the United Kingdom from 1958-1971
by Austin Healey. This model is a Mark II which was produced from
1961-1964. The Mark II was powered by a 1098cc engine with a single
carburetor from the Austin A40 producing a solid 56hp and mated to
a close ratio 6B 4 speed transmission that was strengthened by a
Porsche (Baulk-ring) syncro-mesh to handle the increase in
horsepower from the previous model. The 1964 model saw the addition
of front disc brakes with an option for wire wheels which this
model carries. A 1961 road test by the British Magazine "The Motor"
reported a top speed of 85.8mph (138.1 khp) and a 0-60mph in 20
sec. The particular model's 1098cc engine has been rebuilt with
both the engine and transmission being stated as original to the
car. It has a sporty Red paint with a nice clean black interior as
well as a zipped cabin cover. This is a lovely example of the 60'
British Roadsters and will take one right back to a time when
driving was more then just about horsepower and more about the
experience of the open road with the wind in your hair and the sun
on your face. It can be seen in greater detail including 100+ HD
pictures and a HD video at
