The updated (2019+) GT350R is one of the most collectible, sought after, and track capable sports cars available on the road today. Most importantly, this was the world’s last 500+ horsepower naturally aspirated high-revving V8 powered automobile (from ANY manufacturer) produced with a 6-speed manual transmission! Add in the factory carbon fiber wheels and rear wing, backseat delete, and ultra-low production numbers and you have a very special car indeed. It has been estimated that there were only 567 2020 GT350R models produced for model year 2020 (with only 38 of them finished in Magnetic Metallic).
Simply put, at this price point you cannot find a more incredible and collectible driving experience than the Shelby GT350. Case closed. The flat-plane-crank V8 makes the most hellacious sounds this side of a Ferrari 458 Speciale. It has an incredibly linear 8,250 rpm power band, handles like something that costs twice as much, and rates super high in the exclusivity department. People LOVE seeing (and hearing) this car on the road.
What’s new? 2019 brought a host of changes that are well worth stepping up for. The newly fitted Michelin Sport Cup 2s were developed just for this GT350, and therefore an entire re-work of the Magnetic-Ride adjustable suspension was in order to make the system much sharper. The ABS system was also recalibrated as well and the 5.2L Voodoo V8 has less vibration than the original engine was infamous for. The car’s internal grill area was also slightly improved to reduce drag. The newer 2020 models also received the improved steering rack from the updated GT500. All of these improvements take the driving experience to the next level and ensure that the final model year 2020 car will not only be the most collectible GT350, but also the finest one ever built by Ford.
